Another Australian!
G’day!
Another Australian who previously found Lew on themtube. Loved the channel and the content.
Fell into BP by accident at the age of 17 when mailed a P53 Enfield rifle instead of a P14....
Lucky happenstance as it proved to be more fun than I could have imagined!
Casual club shooter and occasional hunter at 53 years of age. I’m seeing a resurgence in local interest in BP and am keen to foster it. Whilst I love PRB I love learning all aspects of BP shooting and look forward to the banter and info sharing here.
Congrats Lew on the forum and g’day from South Australia!
Kind regards,
Tank.

G'day mate,
Welcome to the forum. Glad to hear there is more of it getting going here, I'm yet to meet another BP shooter in Aus.
What guns are you shooting?

Re: Another Australian!
Rare breed Bushfire!
Thanks for the welcome.
I’ve very recently picked up a Pedersoli Frontier percussion rifle in .54cal having quit a Lyman Deerstalker .54 and a Euroarms 1858.
I can see a Jaeger and a big Hawken in my future though.
I’m lucky to have a few blokes locally that are keen on making smoke occasionally.
My local pistol club is accredited for all manner of BP shooting....including a few cap and ball lads too!
It’s a joy!!
Cheers again! Tank.

How are you finding the frontier? I've been tempted to get one in .54 flintlock. I wanted a jager until I got the price on them!
I have a Pedersoli hawken Missouri River and a Rocky Mountain, great guns.

Re: Another Australian!
I’m really enjoying it!
It’s a fine shooter. Though I’m waiting on a replacement rear sight as I struggle with the stock fixed buckhorn.....
I had one in .50 with the flintlock. I just didn’t have the patience to ‘get on’ with it. The lock time did my head in. I clean missed what I could have guaranteed with my Deerstalker whilst hunting. It wasn’t too hard to see it go....lost nothing on it.
Love your Hawken’s though Bushfire!
Are they both maple stocked?

I don’t mind the adjustable semi buckhorn that the hawkens come with. Having said that I've removed them in favour of a peep.
Did you have issues with the lock geometry or just didn't like the flash in front of your face? I have heard mixed things about their flintlocks. I only have one flintlock which is a pedersoli fowler and it goes off like fireworks.
Nah the Missouri has a maple, the rocky mountain is walnut. The rocky mountain is my favourite I've really come to love round ball shooters. Hopefully can take a red or fallow with it next year.

Welcome Tank!! Great to see more Aussies getting the smoke pole bug. Same for me, I stumbled on Lewis on YT and he has renewed my interest, purely for dedication he has to long range shooting. I had a lyman GP 66T buti traded it off, I have a serious itch for a .50 Hawken 1/48T rifle in the future.
I'm collecting all encounterments at the moment.
Regards MJ
