Testament to Peep Sights
I went to my First ever Eye Exam this morning, I have been saying for years that my Vision is NOT near as good as Many might think, and i have been right all along, My Vision was 20/100 This morning, Yep that’s right, I wouldn’t even pass a Driver’s license Eye test like this. But how can i Shoot as well as i do? Peep sights is EXACTLY Why. If this is not a Testament to how effective Peep Sights can be, i don’t know what could be? I have said this MANY times before, I could NEVER Shoot like i do without Peep Sights.
Anyone Struggling with poor vision, Try a Peep Sight! You might be pleasantly Surprised at how much they can Help

If you have 20/100 vision, it means that you must be as close as 20 feet to see what a person with normal vision can see at 100 feet.

I completely concur.
Recently had a rimfire rifle shoot at my local pistol club and took my BSA Sportsman equipped with a Parker Hale receiver sight with an adjustable diopter aperture....Now I can shoot handgun with my reading glasses on.....but with the extended sight radius on a rifle I can’t see the front or rear over open sights (rear v-notch).....but with the aperture sight I get focus on my front sight with or without glasses.....reading or standard!
A couple of the blokes I shoot with called me out on the fact and were quite stunned when they too shouldered this rifle with the same result!
Must ask my optometrist how this works!

Re: Testament to Peep Sights
The peep aperture acts like a lens, opening or closing the variable aperture focuses the eye on the specific point of reference. The front sight in this instance…

Re: Testament to Peep Sights
My problem now with peep sights is that I need at least a .078" - .093" hole in the aperture or else I will see what looks like a burr running across the hole from about 10 O'clock to 4 O'clock. With a standard .050" hole this distortion actually blocks my view of the front sight.
Two years ago the optometrist stated that I was starting on cataracts but they weren't a problem yet! I guess he doesn't shoot with a peep sight - huh?

ANZAC mini corp shoot at my local gun club today.
Time to give the boys another scare with my 76 year old BSA! Last year I came 4th to 3 lads using their .22 PRS rifles ($3,500 to $6,000 pieces of kit).
Just need to get those pesky last 4 rapid fire targets double tapped at double the points to be right in there!
Good luck with getting on top of the aperture size. It’s well worth preserving with!

So did you get a pair of glasses? Be interested to see if POSSIBLE, if your shooting improved?

Re: Testament to Peep Sights
I’m still using my ‘long sight’ glasses for rifle shooting.
However can definitely attest to the ‘curative effects’ of using an aperture sight.
My group sizes are approximately half they were with conventional rear sights.
I have ordered a pair of specs with ‘graded’ lenses to see if they are of any use.
Time will tell.

Tc and Marble front sight
Idaho, What is the height or part # of your Marble fiber optic front sight ? I also have a TC Tang Sight. I read you can use stock front sight but wanted to use for hunting in low light conditions. I saw this on another site. Tc peep with green Marble fiberoptic sight. I believe this was on a 54 cal you had. Thanks
