The Knight Mountaineer is a GREAT Rifle! I use to own one, Mine was the Faster 1:20 Twist. I shot My own Cast Bullets in mine, Both Grease Groove and Paper Patch. I also have a Few 1:30 Twist .45 Cal Barrels, they Shoot AWESOME as well
Do you have a Preference on Bullets? Cast Lead or Jacketed? As for Scopes, I am a BIG Leupold Fan, If it were me, I would get a 3X9 or maybe even a 4X12 VX1 or VX2 Leupold
Here is my Old Knight Mountaineer .45 Cal 1:20 Twist at 600 Yards With BACO .444-400 Paper Patch Bullets

Hello TD. I too am looking for a scope for my new patriot when it arrives. I shoot alot of rifles and one thing I know is when shooting at longer yards like 300 is more power is the key to hitting a small target. I will use something that has a minimum power of 3, for close shooting and something in the range of 15, for the long shots. As Lew says aim small/miss small.

Hi Lew and Shorty, sorry for such a long responds time on the mountaineer 45.I've not decided on the scope yet it between a 3x9x40 Leupold and a vortex 4x12x50.the problem is reticles used for hunting with all the BDC and matching up bullets and powder. I've set up account with BACO order the 444-400 bullets that Lew used in his u-tube video they are on back order. Have paper patch templates and paper coming going to try that with 777 starting at 80 gr up to maybe 110 gr felt wads and swab between shots and see what we get thanks for all the input and many THANKS to Mr. Lewis for starting this site and sharing.

Of the 2 Scopes you mention, I personally would go with the Leupold, I have owned Leupold Scopes all of my Life and have had excellent Luck with them, Vortex on the other Hand have Failed me, The Vortex scope in the Video above Fell apart, It stopped Holding Zero, and that was a 1,000 Dollar Scope. Go with Leupold

That .444-400 BACO Paper Patch Bullet is one of my all time Favorite Bullets, It is an EXCELLENT Shooting Bullet

I always had excellent performance from Nikon scopes. Unfortunately they quit making optics!
I've also been extremely happy with my Leupold scopes.
Believe it or not Burris is actually making a damned good scope these days.
I personally wouldn't deal with Konus scopes. We've had some real problems right off the bat with reticles and internal pieces falling apart and seald going bad.
But that is just my opinion.....everyone has their favorites, so do a lot of reviewing.
There's an old saying, "you get what you pay for". But in todays world that is not true anymore as most of these components are made with CHINESE junk parts.

Hello
to all who responded to my post on the mountaineer. I've decided on a Leupold 3x9x40 ultra slam. I also purchase a 50-caliber mountaineer barrel from knight rifle and will mount a Nikon scope on it. still waiting on bullets on back order from BACO I'll keep you all up to date with a range report on how these rifle shoot once I get everything together thanks for all your help.

That is the same scope I have on my knight Disc Extreme. I had it on a CVA Accura V2 but switched it to the Knight. Its a great scope and one I would have recommended.TD BRIGHT wrote:Hello
