Is world war III just around the corner?

With the Russian military buildup along Ukraine's eastern and northern borders these past months and the all-out invasion of Ukraine this week, NATO has enacted article 4 of the NATO defense pact along the Baltic states bordering Russia. Putin stated that if NATO or any European country interfered in this military operation there would be retaliation that Europe had not seen or words to that effect. This was taken as a thinly veiled threat to use nuclear arms. Considering that two weeks ago, he has his strategic rocker forces go through firing drills. I'm a Canadian armoured veteran and was stationed in CFB Gagetown, New Brunswick with a "flyover" armoured squadron to augment the 4th Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group in West Germany during the 70s and 80s. I may be going out on a limb here, but I have a feeling that we are back in a full-blown cold war... yet again. Buckle up, this is going to get very rough.
