In a pinch?
Hey guys I just found this on line. For less than $100 you can form and prime your own percussion caps. Probably cost you less if you used kid's roll caps. Check it out. If I didn't have so many caps on hand I'd be buying a kit. I found this on a query on "how to make your own percussion caps". The powder formulation used in the 18 min video I watched appears to be a black powder formula.
It looks pretty easy to do too.

I bought one. Haven't tried it yet. Stocking up empty beer cans to make caps. Someone online said mountain dew cans are good, but I won't drink it. Also read that snuff spoons are good for filling the caps, I put those with the kit as well. All in preparation if that day ever comes. Haven't found a source for kids caps as yet, if anyone has any input. I need to make something to hold the empty caps conveniently to fill them

Cabelas and Bass Pro sells roll caps. I was wondering how well those little red caps would be for cap and ball revolvers. They are smaller than #11 but may be close to #10s

You can buy the powder at https://22lrreloader.com/
The powder seems to be more consistent and just better. Haven't had any miss-fires, and a good strong fire. You can get 2000+ caps from the package of powder. Kit works really well.

What do you use to hold the caps you make so they can be charged? I've thought of drilling small holes in a block of wood. I've read primer holders work well also. Acetone for a hardener?
