What sizer do I need ??? Empty What sizer do I need ???

So I bought the 50 I bullet mold last summer and it throws .504 on the money. Problem is @ 504 I have drive one in with a mallet to get it to start. It was kinda blessing in disguise, since it let me slug my bore. Which came out to .5015-502ish. I have the Lee .501 szr which knocks it down to .5005. At .5005 the weight of the ram rod pushes the bullet down the bore. To me this seems to loose of a fit. What do you guys size to? How much resistance do you have on your ram rods?

Are you using pure lead? I would think either a 503 or 502 sizing would do the trick.

I would tend to agree with Ed. However a thought should you decide to try it before you buy another sizer. If you're using pure lead size a few with your .501" sizer and shoot them. They will obturate some and engage the rifling. My paper patched bullets are a slip fit and they are really accurate.
If you want, and I've done it, you can open up your sizer a tad by wrapping some fine grit emery cloth around a dowel and rolling it back and forth. You can open it up .005"-.001".

I am using pure lead. And since I’m using this in a hunting application I’m kinda worried about bullet traveling off the load while hunting. But I’m also an idiot and didn’t think about just opening up the .501 that’s the easiest thing and cheap too. Can’t believe I didn’t think about that

Just open it up a little at a time. You can always make it bigger but you can't make it smaller.

I once found a White bullet halfway sticking out my bbl one time while stalking. Since then using pure lead for my 451 bbls, I size them to 452. This way you feel resistance all the way down. Using pure lead, they still slide down the bore with just a firm push.

If your current sizer is too small your only recourse is to open it up or get a bigger one.
