Williams FP Hawken or Lyman 57 SML Empty Williams FP Hawken or Lyman 57 SML

I'm looking for a tang peep sight that will fit my TC Renegade. So far I have not been able to find either of the two peep sights in stock anywhere. Seems like they may have been discontinued. Any other suggestions?

Finally got one ordered through Williams. Just had to check back continuously until they had them in stock again. Thinking about ordering another one too as I just purchased a Traditions .50.

Williams FP Hawken or Lyman 57 SML Empty Williams FP sight modification

Post by Grant Northcott Fri Jan 27, 2023 5:30 pm

I ordered three Williams FP sights for my wife's .50 TC and my stepsons as well as for myself. I mounted all three and took mine out for a trial run and found that the front sight on the rifles was too low. I was able to remove the upper portion of the Williams FP sight and carefully file down the underside of the sight body upper to bring the peep closer to the rifle bore, lining up the rear peep to the front blade sight. I also noted that the graduations on the left side of the site now line up to where they're supposed to be at it's lowest setting. I probably took off 3/16" material from the underside of the upper body to align the graduations. The whole operation worked without a hitch. You will need to remove the adjusting screw prior to filing the underside of the upper body.
Just be careful that you dont lose the detent ball and spring housed inside that adjustment mechanism. The modification works perfectly so that the mean point of impact at 50 meters hits at the same elevation as the center of the target
