Round vs square patches
Sometimes my feeble mind gets to thinking so...: We all know (or those of us that have been shooting PRBs for a while) that ball size, patch thickness and type of lube play an important role in accuracy. But going through some of these threads on making patches I was wondering if anyone has ever ran a thorough test on the accuracy difference, if any, exist between round vs. square patches - all else being equal.
Would be interesting to find out. I'd do it myself but I'm currently in FL and all my toys are in PA. Any volunteers?

I’m also in Fl escaping the Mn winter this year but I have a Hawken with me that I’m sighting in in hopes of shooting a hog while I’m here. I’m going to the range this week and I’ll shoot with some square patches and let you how it works.

Hey Paul shoot both and post the difference if any. That would be great.
Where are you wintering? We're in Clermont.

Someone else probably has an answer to that already but I’ll shoot a couple comparison targets. We’re in Cedar Key about 55 miles southwest of Gainesville on the gulf. I’ve been shooting at a range in Gainesville. I tried shooting at a range south of me but they wouldn’t let me shoot black powder. Said the smoke disturbed the other shooters? First time I’ve run into that.

Hey Bronko, I did a little search on round vs square patches. The consensus among shooters on another forum who tried them is that there’s no difference in performance. Just what I read. I have no direct experience.

Just as I suspected. For those who shoot a lot I watched a couple minute video on making patches. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNNmCDwp8mM
