Before buying bullets, balls, or mold.
Check the bore yourself if possible or take to a good gunsmith to verify bore.

An easy way to check your bore diameter provided you have a good set of calipers or micrometer is to take a pure lead bullet, your case a 50 cal, and place
the base on a solid surface and tap it with a hammer on the tip. This will fatten the bullet in effect making it a slug. Then tap it into the bore. Be sre to remove the breech plug and tap the bullet into the bore. Then go to the breech end and tap it back out onto a towel or other soft surface. And presto you have your bore slug.

I must be loosing it I meant to talk of my 45 caliber CVA LRX I meant to say been told bores in the 45 are anywhere from ,454 to .455 creating a problem where .451 .452 bullets will move of the powder charge creating a dangerous condition As Bronko22000 has said to slug the bore to be sure which I will do The 50 caliber barrels are pretty uniform and they have no problem with them Muzzleloaders.com must know there is a problem with the 45 they have dropped the price $150.00 but the 50 price stays the same I am going to e-mal CVA and see if they will swap me for a 50 caliber MRX Nothing hurts a try but a failure Again Sorry fir the mix up on my part

If you find your bore is oversized like you think it is you can always cast your own .458" bullets and resize them to the diameter you need.

Did you shoot the .40 cal with the Harvester sabot? How well did it shoot? Some of my best shooting rifles shoot a bullet that only requires just a bit more than the weight of the ramrod to seat.

I sure hope that health takes a sharp turn and heads north again. Take care and get well.

Ourway I have a feeling that if you shoot a 10mm 200 gr Hornady XTP with a blue Harvester sabot you'll get good accuracy. And that's a good bullet on game. I killed the biggest buck of my life with one. A 200+ lb main frame 10 point. Shot him behind the shoulder and he only went about 40 yards after the shot. His lungs were like jelly.

I finally figured what works I take a 40 caliber 200 grain bullet and knurl it put it in a light blue sabot goes down the barrel with just the right resistance As soon as I can get around I will try shooting it

Re: CVA Accura LRX
My 45 CVA MRX is .453 bore. I'm using the Lee 457-405 FPRN powder coated and sized to .454. Loads tight first 6 then gets easier, but still a good fit. It wants to shoot good, but I'm getting some bad flyers since I relieved the stock forearm. I didn't like that the stock touched the barrel on one side and floated on the other. I'll probably bed the full length to have consistent pressure on the barrel. So far I'm not very impressed by this rifle, but I think I'll figure it out.
