More Chainsaw Milling
Another productive, and fun day milling lumber with my Dad
We ended up with 14 2X6s 12 Feet long, and 8 4X6 Posts 12 Feet long.
A set of Tree plates i made from 3/16 Mild Steel, cut with my acetylene torch and Burn Bar

The Tree plates worked AWESOME

Dad running my Edging Mill with his saw

And some of the Finished product, These are REALLY Nice 2X6 Boards, better than anything i can buy
The same goes for the 8 4X6 Posts we cut today, i forgot to get a picture of them

Re: More Chainsaw Milling
For 22 Years I was a Tree climber/sales
Now I just operate as a salesman for a residential tree service. My brother has a nice Woodmizer saw mill.

I sure am enjoying itI run a Stihl 660, 32” inch Bar. This stuff comes natural to me as i have Cut Timber as a Profession, and worked in the Woods all of my Life
HA...Lewis seems we have more in common than I thought. I took up forestry in college and after graduation I worked a chain saw and log skidder for a logging company in north central PA then worked for a surveying company, My crew ran surveys for power lines through the woods and fields of PA. I'll never forget the time we ran center line through about a 1/4 acre rattlesnake den. I never saw so many timber rattlers in my life. Its a wonder none of us ever got bit.
BTW, those slabs would make beautiful benches!

Did my share of clearing and timber work- climbing the Large Oak/Cherry to blow out the tops… so not to split the Log when dropped. So much fun to drop a large tree tho!
My Brother mills a lot - and the Alaskan Mill he has works well!
