Can't beat a free gift! I have a friend who wants to give me one of his 451 Whites as he knows how much I love to shoot them as he has a few of them. He may be selling a Savage ML that has yet to be fired?

Yes I think it will only be a slow twist ball shooter, but still fun, to get some practice with.....

Re: 45 cal CVA rifle.....
Sorry I doubled up, but you get the picture/s haha....
I think the lock looks a but tired, but you can get a Pedersoli lock for $210 AUD if needed, and the rest of the rifle is worthy....

Re: 45 cal CVA rifle.....
I have two of them. One is an old kit build the other is an old Connecticut Valley Arms production rifle with no other marking than "Connecticut Valley Arms .45 caliber" that's older yet. I've had it looked at by a few old time BP shooters and no they believe it was from around 1968-1969 back when CVA imported from different places. They're a 1:66 ROT round ball gun and a very accurate one at that. They shoot the 200gr (195gr) R.E.A.L. bullet very well and even the 250gr (245gr) R.E.A.L. bullet is exceptionally well.

Re: 45 cal CVA rifle.....
Also I will add mine have a fairly tight bore and do their best with a .433" ball and .018 patch

Yes the one I may have, sounds like the one with minimal markings, so a production rifle from somewhere....I just hope the barrel is good. I have a .452 swage die for a SWC or RN bullet of 200gn or up, so that may come in handy, with a paper patch maybe, or just stick with PRB.....See what it likes I guess

You'd be surprised how effective PRB is with they .45 caliber within 100 yards. I've taken deer and hog with it. As well as squirrel and rabbit. It's pretty versatile.

Re: 45 cal CVA rifle.....
Have you miked the bore to get exact diameter?
I am thinking .44 ball with .010 thick patch, but you might want .018 thick pillow ticking instead and it depends on what the bore size comes out to.

Yes, sadly I won't get to play with it for a bit, I'm trying my luck at some travelling amid this pandemic. I will try and establish a barrel twist though, and get some more pics up....I think it's a CVA Kentucky rifle. Shoulders very nicely and balances very well from the standing position. It will sir will on a rest, and hopefully shoot good too. I'm yet to slug the barrel also

It’s likely a 1:66 Twist, For Patched Roundball

Chiappa has a pretty good reputation with firearms. However, never dealt with one of their BP ML's. Hope someone chimes in here to give you some info.Maxjon wrote:Looking at buying another Chiappa Kentucky rifle, 45 cal. Any good?? 1-36 twist....could be a bullet shooter!!
