they call them monkey guns. Inexpensive smooth bores. Thats a very nice one! The stock and carving is well done.

Thank you for your reply, the bore is pretty rusty, ran at least a dozen or so oily patches down it, still coming out brown .. I managed to get the nipple out and replaced it from one I took out of my Traditions Hawken, put a cap on it and it goes BANG ..! The barrel walls look thin to me, I don’t think I would run any tight patched round ball down it …! Never heard of a monkey gun lmao ..!! How about 000 buck or 00 buck shot over say 40 grains of powder .. Please tell me more about this ‘monkey gun’ , do you know it’s capabilities and it’s limitations ..?!
