What was the load?

Will you shoot out to 150 and 200 yards?

Already have, years ago. It has long since been sold. A dumb dumb thing to do! I have a 54cal now and still am happy.

150 yards with 2 different lubes. The bear grease was just that, No wax or anything added. Orange bullseye is 3" diameter.

You were using tow lubricated with mink oil to get that smaller group?

Good shooting Jon. I love my .58s.  I have a caplock with a GM barrel and a flintlock with a barrel made by Bob Hoyt. Both in Renegade stocks. My preferred load for each is 100 gr of goex FFg, a .570 RB and a pillow tick patch (.018") lubed lightly with olive oil.  I did have Williams receiver/peep sights on both rifles but in just about all of my hunting situations I replaced them with rear iron sights like those on the Marlin 1895 and a gold bead front sight. The set up makes for a very deadly combination on deer.  I want to try it on a PA blackie this season.

Great shooting!
Did the CVA Hawken come in .58, or did you the barrel bored out, etc.?

I have been THOROUGHLY impressed with most of these Factory 1:48 Twist TC Barrels, They are EXTREMELY Capable, they just need a Capable Shooter behind them. I have accurately shot 2 Stock 1:48 Twist TC Riles (a .50 and even a .54 Cal) to 500 Yards

I recently acquired a vintage CVA Missouri rifle, 54 caliber. 1/48 twist, 28 inch barrel.
Looking forward to shooting it soon. Ordered some .530 round balls and pillow ticking.
Soon as that comes in, I'll be up to the range.
